Help Your Teen Overcome Panic

A specialist program for teens. Self-guided at home, or with a therapist guiding your teen every step of the way.

A structured, evidence-based program to help your teen overcome panic. They do the practice, and you keep the parent PIN.

Understanding Panic

Panic disorder is often described as the fear of fear itself. After one or more panic attacks (racing heart, dizziness, derealization, the sense you might die or go crazy) it is very easy to fall into a cycle of anxiety and fear. We begin to scan for signs of panic, which means we notice them more often, which causes distress so we scan more - and the cycle escalates. Bia is designed to help us break this cycle of fear, by reversing it in small, incremental steps. Bia provides lessons explaining the science behind this fear and helps you practice evidence-proven skills in short daily exercises.

Common signs of panic

  • Racing heart or palpitations
  • Dizziness, derealization, or depersonalization
  • Shortness of breath or chest tightness
  • Fear of dying, going crazy, or losing control
  • Anticipatory anxiety between attacks
  • Avoidance of places where attacks have happened or could be inescapable

The Science of Recovery

Retraining the Brain

Read the science behind recovery

Anxiety is the brain's natural alarm process out of balance. When we avoid a trigger, the brain learns the threat is real, and will trigger more discomfort next time, creating a vicious loop called the avoidance cycle.

Bia uses ERP (Exposure & Response Prevention) to help the brain unlearn fear through small, incremental exercises. Instead of reacting to triggers, build skills with proactive practice.

Bia provides pre-built recovery plans made of 80+ interactive activities for you and your teen to complete at your own pace.

Bia app, what your teen sees

Understanding panic in children

A panic attack is a sudden rush of fear with a pounding heart, dizziness or shortness of breath. It feels dangerous, but it is not. Many teens have their first one out of nowhere and then start to fear the next one.

That fear of another attack is what keeps panic going. Teens start avoiding the places and feelings linked to it, like crowded hallways, sports, or even getting out of breath, and their world gets smaller.

Bia teaches your teen how panic works and helps them face the sensations and situations they have started to avoid, gradually and in their own time.

Frequently asked questions about panic

Are panic attacks dangerous?

Panic attacks are frightening, but they are not harmful in themselves. It is still wise to have a doctor rule out other causes, especially after a first attack.

Should my teen avoid the things that bring on panic?

Avoiding feels safer, but it teaches the brain that those situations are dangerous. Bia helps your teen face them gradually, including the body sensations themselves, so the fear has a chance to fade.

Is the physical practice safe?

Before any exercise that brings on body sensations, like running on the spot, Bia asks a few health questions. On a teen account, a parent answers them.

What age group is Bia for?

Bia for Teens is designed for ages 13 to 17. Your teen gets the standard layout with mature content hidden, and you keep the parent PIN. If your teen would rather manage their own account, the adult version lets them hide mature content in settings.

Can I use Bia by myself?

Yes. Bia is designed to work as a self-guided tool. It provides a personalized recovery plan, interactive lessons, and step-by-step guided exercises for practicing evidence-based recovery techniques.

Can I use Bia with a therapist?

Yes. Bia provides a provider portal where therapists can monitor your progress, create custom exercises, and support your recovery journey.

How much time does it take?

Individual sessions are short. We recommend 10–15 minutes a day, 3 to 4 times a week. Bia builds a personalized step-by-step journey based on your unique needs, so completing the full journey is different for everyone. Typically, a journey includes over 55 exercises and 19 lessons across 9 milestones.

What do you do with my data?

Bia never shares your account data with third parties. You can view and delete your data at anytime. Good privacy is simple, you own your data.
